ACPAA Senior Advisor attended 5th Cross-Straits Patent Forum

Recently, the 5th Cross-Straits Patent Forum, organized by All-China Patent Attorneys Association (ACPAA) and Taiwan Federation of Industries, was held in Taipei. Senior Advisor of All-China Patent Attorneys Association He Hua attended and delivered the forum.

General-Secretary of Taiwan Federation of Industries Cai Liansheng, Senior Advisor of the Intellectual Property Right Committee Wang Meihua and ACPAA principals participated in the forum.

In his remarks, He Hua reviewed the cooperation of the Mainland and Taiwan in patent sector and the achievements made in the past few years. He pointed out that in the context of more free and quicker exchange of global information, capital, science and technology and talents, the cooperation between the Mainland and Taiwan in patent sector has great potential. According to He Hua, at present, the main economies in the world all paid more attention to the outstanding role of innovation in cultivating core competitiveness and boosting consistent growth of economy, and economic globalization and information network both need changing IP system. He Hua hoped that the Mainland and Taiwan could join hands to develop the Cross-Straits Forum into a channel favorable for close cooperation between the two sides, a platform promoting deep industrial coordination and a brand impelling the development of economy and trade of the Mainland and Taiwan.

Both Cai Liansheng and Wang Meihua expressed in their speeches that the conduct of the Cross-Straits Patent Forum created a new chapter in cross-strait intellectual property cooperation, in particular, the patent cooperation. Various topics discussed at the forum bear fruitful results. The forum has become a platform for patent competent authorities of the Mainland and Taiwan as well as the industry to strengthen relationship and deepen cooperation. With the regular holding of the forum, the range of patent cooperation across the Straits will be expanded and the effectiveness will be even more impressive.

Over 280 represent persons from cross-straits patent competent authorities, the industry and patent agencies took part in the forum and they mainly discussed the following topics, i.e. the latest change of patent system, patent examination practice, patent administrative remedies, patent lawsuit practice and patent operation and management.
