Shanghai convened the second joint meeting on IPR protection on October 15 to further arrange the implementation of the Outline of Intellectual Property Strategies of Shanghai. Vice Mayor Zhao Wen attended and addressed the meeting, Xue Chao, deputy secretary general of the municipal government conveyed the principal spirit of the instructions made by key government leaders in enhancing intellectual property protection, and Lv Guoqiang, Director of the Municipal Intellectual Property Office, delivered a report on the new cooperation program between Shanghai government and the State Intellectual Property Office.

Zhao Wen said that this year local government promulgated and implemented the Outline of Intellectual Property Strategies of Shanghai (2011-2020), specifying the plan to build Shanghai into an IP center of the Asia-Pacific Region. He also urged relevant departments to seize the chance to make further progress in IP protection. He mentioned that relevant departments should focus on key issues, promote new IP mechanisms, enhance local enterprises’ IP strength, cultivate IP talents and create a sound IP environment. Meanwhile, the authorities will provide necessary guidance and invest more resources to strive to realize the goal of turning Shanghai into the IP center.
