Since July 4, Chongqing Municipal Industry and Commerce Bureau has been straightening out 165 trademark agency organization, which effectively held back the too high price of trademark agency. At present, the agency fee paid by enterprises for well-known trademark applications through case management pathway decreased to 101,000 yuan for per application from 319,000 yuan, dropping by 68.3%; the agency fee for geographical indication (GI) trademarks was reduced to below 50,000 yuan.

Chongqing Municipal Industry and Commerce Bureau mainly took the following measures to reduce agent fee. First, investigate the operation of trademark agency organizations, including service scope, service quality, fee collection criteria, charging methods and fee collection items in a bid to standardize trademark agency behaviors. Second, conduct administrative guidance to trademark agency organizations. The bureau arranged talks with 16 scaled trademark agency organizations, particularly those charging too much and instructed them standardize fee collection and enhance industry self-regulation. Third, standardize key trademark declaration and recommendation process. A filing system was established, applying to identify the well-known trademark by trademark opposition and dispute resolution procedures, GI declaration and recommendation system was bettered, the progress of well-known trademarks and GI declaration, reasonable requirements of applicants and the work of trademark agency organizations were timely known about. Receipt registration system and telling all for once system were carried out.
